5 out of 5 stars fantastic buy   May 13, 2010

I am extremely pleased with the cover for my fantastic Kindle. It protects my Kindle and does not add significant weight or thickness. It still fits in my purse and is still much more convenient to carry around than a paperback book. A good buy and well worth it.

3 out of 5 stars Heavy and needs a quick fix   May 9, 2010

I noticed right away that the case was bending the plastic. When the Kindle went up, the top 'hook' bent the plastic; when the kindle went down, the bottom 'hook' bent the plastic. I took the cover off and looked at the hooks. The top hook is bent up, and the bottom hook is bent down. So I took a pair of needle-nose pliers and bent them both straight-- parallel to the back cover. This seems to have stopped the plastic from bending unless the Kindle really moves up or down. After this little fix I will use the cover with caution for a while, but it looks like a little bending fixes the problem.

It also is a heavy cover. This is probably because of the magnets in it. It feels like it almost doubles the weight of the Kindle, but the protection from bumping and scratching could be worth it. It is still lighter than carrying a hardcover book.

3 out of 5 stars Kindle Cover   May 8, 2010

The only real issue I have with the Kindle Cover is; that the lower hook falls out of place quite frequently.
Otherwise, I think it grand.

3 out of 5 stars They should have thought of just one more thing ....   May 6, 2010

If Amazon had added a double sided adhesive (or an additional clamp thingy) to hold the Kindle to the bottom cover it would be perfect. As it is now, I have to be careful not to have the Kindle move too far away from that back cover or I will bend either the two metal fasteners or damage the Kindle itself.

I've only had this cover for a few minutes and if I can think of this, why can't Amazon.

... the following added a few days later.

I added three double sided adhesive squares which are one inch square to the back side of the Kindle which now holds the bottom cover in place. The bottom cover is now more or less permanently attached to the underside of the Kindle. I would have used Velcro (with an adhesive back) but that solution would have been too thick. Those double sided squares are about the thickness of a business card.

... one more edit.

I thought I had registered my Kindle but apparently I hadn't. I had to enter the serial number located on the back of the Kindle which meant I had to separate the Kindle from the back cover which was held in place with those double sided squares I had earlier used. This time I used a inch wide (or so) double sided adhesive strip used for keeping laminate floors in place. This strip was even thinner than a business card and works just as well. it would seem there are many possibilities to 'glue' the back of the Kindle to the back cover.

Just passing this on ... as you were.
