KINDLE July 31, 2010 kjkatjan I was told about this product during a casual conversation and it peeked my interest.....
I researched this product for quite a while before actually placing my order... I read a lot of books and some of them are pretty heavy because I don't want to wait for the paperback to come out (hardcover). The last book I read was big, bulky and heavy and I was having a difficult time getting comfortable trying to read it. I couldn't take it anywhere with me, and it was too hard to take to bed to read a couple of chapters...... I was so excited once I decided to order it and couldn't wait for it to arrive. I am so satisfied with my Kindle and everyone I talk to about it wants one too.... I guess I rave about it a lot to my friends, so this will be going on a few people's Christmas list....... It is light, easy to hold, and very easy to navigate through the features and books that I currently have. Great purchase and I recommend it to anybody who enjoys reading. :)
Fabulous July 31, 2010 Nancy T. I absolutely love it! I was hesitant at first but I'm so glad I have it. I still like to roam book stores but the ease of downloading a book is terrific. Bright sun is not a problem, the dictionary is built in, so many features. Like I said-FABULOUS!
Page Numbering July 31, 2010 HiDef Pioneer 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Kindle is a fast, convenient, and inexpensive way to buy and read books--BUT...why aren't book chapters and page numbers displayed at the bottom and searchable??!!! This is probably the most frustrating issue I have with it. If I want to go forward or backward to a particular page I have to search on a totally meaningless location code. Who remembers random location codes??!!! I also don't much care about what percentage of the book I've read either. Who in the Kindle development group thought this was a good idea??!! There are some books that display maps or graphics at the beginning of the book (or throughout the book, for that matter). If the text references a geographical location, there is no easy way to find the page with the map. There are many other reasons for being able to go directly to a particular page number as well. When (or if) I figure out how to use the not-so-user-friendly bookmark system maybe I'll be less critical.
Easy to use July 31, 2010 Phil (Pittsburgh, PA) Very easy to use. I especially like the ease of looking up a word in the included dictionary. Just move the cursor to the word, and the definition pops up at the bottom. If you want more definitions, pressing the enter key will bring up the dictionary in full screen.
works in france July 31, 2010 brian johnson (BEL AIR, MARYLAND, US) i got a kindle as a gift. i live in europe and i love it, i can order books in english at anytime i still miss the feel of a real book but aside from that i dont see a downside! it costs about 8.00 euros a book which is way cheaper then the 20.00 i have been paying, its a bank accout saver if you read alot (i go through about 1 book a week, as i do not care much for tv outside of sports)
