Upgraded from Kindle 1 July 31, 2010 Diane Fanz (Okemos, MI USA) I recently upgraded from Kindle 1 because I wanted the international downloading capability. I enjoy my Kindle 2 and appreciate the new streamlined look and feel. I also like the new case better than the original Kindle 1 case. It does a better job of sticking to and protecting the Kindle. I think the Kindle 1 was easier to turn off and on and that the external on/off switch made it easier to keep track of whether the wireless feature is on or off. This has a big impact on battery life. I haven't figured out yet how to manage my collection on the new kindle eg. How do I delete a book I don't want to retain on the device? All in all, I'm still an avid fan of the Kindle and highly recommend it to readers everywhere. The international downloading works like a charm. Now I just need to figure out who gets my first Kindle... I feel a family feud on the horizon.
My 4th Kindle July 31, 2010 Precept1 My first Kindle was short lived until the second generation was introduced. I gave my first to mom and purchase a third for my wife. Since then, I convinced 5 friends to join the Kindle club and recently purchased my 4th as a retirement gift for a close friend. There's no better gift than a Kindle!
Thanks Amazon!
After replacement, still does not work July 31, 2010 Mary S. Exley (Ellabell, GA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
First one I received was defective. The replacement was defective. No more Kindles for me.
Kindle wireless reading device July 31, 2010 Ocalarev Kindle is very easy to use. Great product and very enjoyable to use. downloading books is wonderful and easy. It is everything that amazon said it was and perhaps even more.
No distraction Kindle July 31, 2010 M. Gore (UK) Often I get comments "yes but your Kindle isn't as good as an iPad". That's a bit like saying a F16 is better than Boeing 747.
The Kindle is designed for reading and not for the wiz bang gadgetry you have on an iPad. Don't misunderstand me, I think iPad's are fine if you want all that stuff, but I like to read and the Kindle is fantastic. Simple, affordable, reliable, stylish (I bought the leather cover), and a very very large selection of titles at non rip off prices.
Hope that helps!
