The M-Edge e-Luminator2 booklight is the ultimate accessory for the Amazon Kindle. Based on the input of loyal M-Edge customers, this custom designed booklight has been developed to work seamlessly with most of M-Edge's jackets for the Amazon Kindle (2nd Generation). The powerful light features a super-bright LED light bulb which provides ample illumination for the Reader's screen while a mirrored reflector and optical quality lens disperses the light uniformly.The light is powered by a standard AAA battery (not included) with endurance enough for more than 20 hours of operation without dimming.The light is operated by a three position switch with two light intensity settings.A flexible and resilient steel neck allows the user to position the light in the desired direction.Perhaps the most impressive feature of this light is that it is designed to be stored via a slim support arm sized to match a pocket sewn into the back of many of M-Edge Jackets for the Amazon Kindle. I purchased this light in January from M-Edge along with one of their platform leather covers. From the start, I did not like how the light slipped around in it's slot in the case. I eventually got used to having to keep adjusting the light as I was reading but now it is a total aggravation. The light flops around in the plastic holder instead of fitting tightly. I have to hold it on the cover with a rubber band and tried to tighten up the place where the light snaps into it's holder with rubber bands but they keep breaking. I really hope that Amazon will produce a new lighted cover for the 2nd gen. 6" like they are doing for the new Kindle.

I ordered two of these lights. One worked great, the other is dead on arrival.
After an hour of using the one that works, it seems like a perfectly serviceable light. But if you're thinking of buying one, read the comments here and be prepared for what seems to me to be an unacceptably high failure rate.

This light works well but if you are an avid night time reader you will need to replace batteries every two weeks. We ordered this light to match the Kindle cover we bought (same brand). However, I was disappopinted that I could only store it in the cover on the right side only.

I bought the booklight with the kindle case. It gives enough light to read with in total darkness and has 2 settings, not much difference though. My husband is a light sleeper who needs total darkness to fall asleep and my kindle light does not bother him too much. I would buy again.

I'm 58 and have bad eyesight and I agree with all the great things said about this light. I clearly see two light levels, it lights the entire screen. Doesn't add appreciable weight to the Kindle + cover. Can easily be positioned to avoid all glare. If you get an M-edge compatible cover you really should get this light.
There have been negative reviews about compatibility/fit with some cases. Make sure the battery cover is swiveled to the correct position relative to the big rectangular tab. For my cover it needs to go one way for reading and the other for storage. It's a snap to switch it.
